Top 3 Fighters Related To Wrestling Are Iron Mikes Favorite For Sure

Stipe Miocic is definitely one of my favorites. He was raised in the Cleveland and was a wrestler.

Wkipedia : Since childhood, his mother encouraged his involvement in sports.[6] Miocic played baseball and football and wrestled while at Eastlake North High School.[19] He received interest from Major League Baseball teams during his collegiate years at Cleveland State University and Trevecca Nazarene University.[20] He also played Division II baseball at Coker College his junior year of college.

During his school days, in 2005, he was brought as a training partner to wrestle with Dan Bobish in Strong Style MMA Training Centre, in Independence, Ohio. Miocic at the time trained various sports (wrestling and baseball), to once again come train with them after finishing his paramedic education at Cuyahoga Community College.[6] He initially trained in mixed martial arts but soon changed to boxing. His coach Marcus Marinelli recalled that although he trained only for several months he was beating boxers with much longer experience.[6] After only eight months of training with a background of being a Cleveland Golden Gloves boxing champion (reaching quarter-final in the nationals), and NCAA Division I wrestler at Cleveland State, Miocic began his MMA career by winning his first six fights by knockout.[22] He initially fought for NAAFS (an Ohio-based MMA promotion), where he won the NAAFS Heavyweight Championship.[6]

Gregor “The Gift” Gillespie is a former Edinboro University wrestling alum where I also wrestled accept I would be old enough to be his father.

Wikipedia :  Born and raised in Webster, New York, Gillespie attended Webster Schroeder High School where he was a standout in wrestling, winning two state titles. He continued wrestling for Edinboro University, where he was a four-time NCAA Division I All-American and won a national championship in 2007.[7] He was the first true freshman All-American in school history, and also holds the school record for most career wins (152), most wins as a freshman (40), and highest winning percentage (.917). Gillespie stated that he ended his wrestling career because he didn’t think he could beat Jordan Burroughs. He graduated from Edinboro with a bachelor’s degree in individualized studies and a concentration in psychology.[8][4] He was an assistant coach at Hofstra University and as a side gig, taught private lessons to an MMA fighter. Despite having vowed never to fight, he started studying MMA and quit his job in order to pursue a full-time career in the sport.[9]

I cant wit to see his next fight representing the Boro.

Josh Koscheck another Edinboro University alum had huge success being the bad boy of MMA. As we all know the bad guy is the fighter we love to hate. In real life he is a gentleman and a heck of a fighter. Josh was Edinboro’s second Division 1 national champ second to Sean “the Blond Bomber” Oday.

Ultimate Fighting Championship[edit]

Koscheck appeared on the first season of The Ultimate Fighter as a middleweight fighter. He defeated Chris Leben via unanimous decision to advance to the semifinals, where he was defeated by Diego Sanchez via split decision. Koscheck had his first official UFC fight on April 9, 2005, at The Ultimate Finale, where he defeated Chris Sanford with a first-round KO. Koscheck followed this victory with another win at UFC Ultimate Fight Night over Pete Spratt in Koscheck’s debut at welterweight. Since then, Koscheck has amassed an additional three victories after experiencing his first career loss to Drew Fickett due to a rear naked choke. Koscheck then defeated Jonathan Goulet at UFC Fight Night 6 by submission due to strikes
